Looking for an eye ointment to put in before bed? VitA-POS is a smooth, sterile, preservative-free eye ointment with vitamin A, sold in Australia by AFT Pharmaceuticals. It comes in a 5g tube, and you use it within 6 months of opening.
What is in VitA-POS eye ointment
The vitamin A is retinol palmitate, at 138 micrograms per gram (250 IU/g). It sits in a base of wool fat (lanolin) and paraffins. VitA-POS may contain peanut oil. The full list is in the Ingredients tab.
How VitA-POS fits a night-time routine
AFT describe VitA-POS as an ointment for night use, for eyes that feel dry, irritated or tired from screens, air conditioning, dust, pollution or smoke. They recommend using it before you go to bed. If you use it during the day, it can affect your vision for a while, so don't drive until your vision is clear.
Using VitA-POS with other dry eye products

Warnings
- Don't use while wearing contact lenses.
- Vision may blur temporarily. Don't drive or operate machinery until it clears.
- Check with your doctor or pharmacist before combining with any other medicine.
- Wait at least 30 minutes between this and any other eye product.
- Use within 6 months of opening.
- VitA-POS may contain peanut oil.
How To Use
- Begin by thoroughly washing your hands. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before application.
- To maintain product sterility, avoid touching the tube's tip to any surface.
- Apply the ointment as shown on the pack leaflet.
- AFT recommend using VitA-POS before you go to bed. They say the number of applications per day will depend on your personal requirements, and for severe dry eye it is usually 3 times a day.
- Securely replace the cap after each use.

Retinol palmitate 138 mcg/g (equivalent to 250 iu/g vitamin a), Liquid paraffin, Light liquid paraffin, Wool fat and White petrolatum (white soft paraffin). It may also contain Peanut oil.
This product is preservative-free.
